Our Vision

We are building a living infrastructure for Indigenous entrepreneurship, built to cultivate community, support innovation, and ground economic transformation in relationship to land.

Living Infrastructure

A purpose-built campus for
Indigenous entrepreneurship

As both a campus for entrepreneurs and a destination for external guests, the Land-Based Centre offers a values-aligned setting for both Indigenous and settler groups.

What do we offer?

The Fireweed Land-Based Centre will be a purpose-built campus where Indigenous innovation, entrepreneurship, and cultural resurgence take root, and regenerative practices are modelled daily. With convening spaces for entrepreneurs, prototype and design labs, on-site accommodation, and integration of land-based learning, it will act as a physical manifestation of the spaces and supports Indigenous innovators need to thrive.
Indigenous Economic Sovereignty

Self-sustaining social enterprise redirects revenue from events, accommodations, and programming into Indigenous-owned businesses and initiatives.

Culturally Rooted Infrastructure

Campus designed by and for Indigenous peoples—guided by Indigenous governance, architecture, and land-based knowledge systems.

Entrepreneurship & Innovation Hub

Provide space, tools, and training to support Indigenous entrepreneurs across sectors from food systems and craft to tech, clean energy, and wellness.

Climate Leadership & Regeneration

Model sustainable development through clean energy systems, regenerative agriculture, and Indigenous land stewardship.

Our spaces will be purpose-built to reflect Indigenous values, respond to local climate conditions, and support the wellbeing of all who gather here. Situated within a coastal rainforest ecosystem, the design will embrace the natural rhythms of the land—accounting for high humidity, rainfall, seasonal winds, and fluctuating temperatures. Structures will prioritize durability, natural ventilation, and material choices suited for the rainforest environment.

Rooted in Indigenous design principles, the Centre will emphasize circularity, relationality, and connection to land and water. Pathways and gathering spaces will foster inclusion and ease of movement across generations and abilities. Materials will be sustainably sourced, and buildings will integrate clean energy systems, natural light, and regenerative landscape design. This is not just a build—it is a living system designed to host innovation, ceremony, healing, and community with deep respect for place.

We envision the Fireweed Institute’s Land-Based Centre as the cultural and economic heart of a broader neighbourhood development, anchoring a vibrant, interconnected community. The Centre would serve as a hub for culture, education, land-based entrepreneurship, farming, wellness and recreation.
